SARGET DE GRUAUD LAROSE 1998
- New
Located in the Bordeaux region exactly in the center of Haut Médoc, this small vineyard runs along the Gironde between Margaux and Pauillac and takes its name from the town of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. Extending on an exceptional terroir made up of gravel from the Günz which slopes gently towards the estuary, it has no less than 11 classified crus, including 5 second growth, 2 third growth and 4 fourth growth (see our article ‘Grands Crus Classés of 1855‘). Halfway between Margaux and Pauillac, the Saint-Julien have the reputation of combining the qualities of their neighbors. Thus, the most knowledgeable tasters will note the differences that exist between the vintages located in the south, showing the finesse of Margaux and those of the north marked by the power of the Pauillacs. In general, the Saint Julien have a fine and complex bouquet (violet, blueberry, blackberry, brown tobacco, cocoa, ...), body, great wealth and sap. Well kept wines.
Area: 910 ha / Soils: gravels on clay-limestone soils and stony soils / Grapes: cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, petit verdot / aging potential: 10 to 20 years (much more for some wines and vintages)
