Domaine Auguste Clape

The Domaine Auguste Clape is a reference in the Cornas appellation. Located in the southern part of the Rhone Valley, the red wines are 100% Syrah. The Cornas of Auguste Clape are famous for their straight, distinguished and sober character. Raised during 2 years in concrete vats then in ancient casks, they are wines carved for the guard. Since 1955, the Domaine Auguste Clape raises its wines to the highest level including adopting a reasoned work of the vine. Pierre-Marie Clape, son of Augustus, who has worked for the Tempier and Le Vieux Télégraphe estates, has been with the estate since 1988. In 2002, he was joined by his own son Olivier.

Only 2 vintages are produced: Cornas with vines from 40 to 90 years old and Renaissance with younger vines.

Area: 8.8 ha; Production: 30,000 bottles / year; Average age of the vines: 45 years; Red grape varieties: Syrah; White grape varieties: Roussanne, Marsanne
