In 1446, Jean and Nicolas Moët were ennobled by King Charles VII. Thus began a lineage that would later give its name to the most beautiful saga in the history of champagne. One of the Moët brothers' descendants, Claude Moët, a wine merchant in Epernay since the early 18th century, founded Maison Moët in 1743.
