Our opinion on the 1911 vintage: a satisfactory vintage. In Bordeaux, the 1911 vintage wines are generally good, despite multiple threats of rot, heat, and bad weather that affected the vineyards. The appellations that stand out are Pauillac, Saint Julien, Margaux, Pessac Léognan and Saint Emilion. In Burgundy, mild weather during the harvest favored the crop. Weather conditions similar to 1906 made the 1911 vintage excellent wines: full-bodied and fragrant. The 1911 vintage in the Rhône Valley is a great and beautiful success. The 1911 vintage Champagnes are also a great success. The harvest was small, but great champagnes were produced. Indeed, 1911 ranks among the best vintages since 1874.
