Our opinion on the 1933 vintage: a satisfactory vintage. 

In Bordeaux, 1933 is remembered as a particularly hot year. The harvest was poor due to strong winds during flowering. The Bordeaux wines from this 1933 vintage are light and pleasant, they can still have a lot of charm. The reds are particularly good overall, full-bodied and light. Some are of inferior quality and prove to be acidic. Sauternes from this year should be avoided.

In the Burgundy region, the high summer temperatures of 1933 allowed for good grape maturation. This resulted in a low yield during harvest but excellent red wines, with finesse and a fruity bouquet. As for the whites, they are equally successful, with good vintage quality. The 1933 wines are long-lasting in Burgundy.

In the Rhône Valley, yields were quite low due to April frosts, but the great estates managed to produce very fine wines in this vintage. Moreover, the northern part of the Rhône Valley produced very structured and long-lasting wines.
