The Hermitage appellation

Hermitage is a controlled designation of origin. It can also be referred to under different designations such as ‘Hermitage‘ or ‘The Hermitage‘. In addition to its AOC, Hermitage has the European label AOP (Protected Designation of Origin). Located in the northern Rhône wine region, on the left bank of the Rhône, it covers nearly 136 hectares of vines in the municipalities of Tain-Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage in the Drôme department. The soils are sandy clay and have limestone and granites. Under this appellation, the winegrowers produce red wines as well as white wines. The grape varieties harvested are Syrah, Marsanne, Roussanne, Bergeron and Shiraz. Its climate is semi-continental with Mediterranean influences allowing the production of quite exceptional wines. Hermitage red wines have a beautiful ruby ​​color and a very beautiful shine. In the mouth, the tannins are remarkable, with tight grains, a certain roundness and a long finish.

The white Hermitage wines are very delicate with a pale gold color and floral notes on the nose. On the palate, again a certain roundness and a long finish with notes of sweet spices.
