Our opinion on the 1966 vintage: a very great year overall. The 1966 vintage in the Bordeaux region benefited from particularly clement weather, which gives it a notable quality, comparable to the prestigious vintages of 1961 and 1970. The red wines are distinguished by their density and balance, while the sweet wines of that year are characterised by their lightness and finesse. In Burgundy, despite poor conditions until the end of August, 1966 is a very good vintage. The wines are good, firm and well-balanced. The Rhône wines are excellent, the climatic conditions of 1966 produced very great wines, especially in the Côte Rôtie and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations.
