The millennium ends beautifully with this exceptional 2000 vintage, which has become legendary in Bordeaux. However, the year did not start well, with a dreadful spring followed by a wet and cool June and July. This was followed by two months that were very beautiful, hot and dry. The result is some of the most immense wines, dark in colour, concentrated, powerful and tannic. There were great successes in the Médoc and exceptional Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. The best wines of this vintage are: Château Palmer 2000, Château Haut Brion 2000, Château Mouton Rothschild 2000, Petrus 2000, Château Ausone 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Pavie 2000 and Château La Conseillante 2000...

In Burgundy, winemakers were also affected by the complicated spring, but the result is beautiful white Burgundy wines. As for red wines, the quality is slightly below par. The best successes can be found in Burgundy Grand Crus and Burgundy Premier Crus. Finally, in the Rhône Valley, wines from the Cornas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellations show potential.
