La Revue du Vin de France January - 2007
La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine Touch of reduction on the nose. The palate shows strict, with notes of red pepper and cedar, but with a lot of depth. It is in a difficult phase, but we have confidence in it.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
The colour is vivid ruby, young, with a gentle welcoming open to the palate, deepened by grilled cedar smoke, capsicum and brambled blackberry. Not quite the same depth through the mid palate as many 2000s, but it is balanced out by mouthwatering acidities on the finish.

Wine Spectator March - 2003
Wine Spectator
Very smoky, with charcoal, almost lamb-like aromas. Full-bodied, chewy and very rich, with a thick and velvety finish. Stylish and decadent young wine.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
I know many people that enjoy this throwback to how Bordeaux wines used to be made. The nose displayed too much vegetal and herbal notes for my taste. On the palate, the wine feels hard and austere. Jancis Robinson March - 2010
Jancis Robinson
Mid crimson. A rather green note – but then this is the first left bank wine after a range of luscious right bank wines... There is interesting stuff underneath – this is a neat, confident wine even if it lacks richness. Good balance and the lightish tannins are just starting to recede.

Château Sociando Mallet
Château Sociando-Mallet Cru Bourgeois, a wine from Haut-Médoc in Gironde. Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine prized by fine wine enthusiasts, as evidenced by its annual success in en primeur sales. Jean Gautreau's wine is one of the great overlooked wines from the 1855 classification. Because it is not officially part of the nobility of Médoc classified growths - even though it rivals more than a few - Château Sociando-Mallet must remain modest in terms of pricing. It thus offers one of the best value-for-money ratios among all great Bordeaux wines!
