1939 Wine
The wines of 1939, a notably better vintage in Sauternes. In Bordeaux, the weather conditions were average. The harvest went well with mild weather. The Bordeaux red wines of the 1939 vintage are fresh, fruity, generally correct and have aged rather well over the years. Among the finest successes, we note the Château Mouton Rothschild 1939 or the Château Haut Brion 1939. The Sauternes of 1939 are among the greatest successes of this vintage. Sweet and fruity, the dessert wines are clearly to be favoured, such as the Château d'Yquem 1939.
