1961 Wine
1961 is one of the best vintages since World War II. Rare wines of excellent quality, this great vintage reveals exceptional wines, albeit with a low harvest volume. The Bordeaux wines are of extraordinary quality. These wines have exceptional aging potential and still hold many surprises. We recommend Château Latour 1961, Château Haut Brion 1961, Château Ducru Beaucaillou 1961, Château Lafleur 1961, or Château Palmer 1961. Unique and legendary Bordeaux grand crus.
In Burgundy, with a warm spring promoting grape growth, the wines are of good quality. Among the finest successes are Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1961, Clos de la Roche 1961, and Gevrey Chambertin Armand Rousseau 1961. The white Burgundy wines are also very good and full of charm. The 1961 vintage champagnes are very elegant, full of sweetness, full-bodied and concentrated on the palate. It is undoubtedly a vintage that offers excellent champagne.
