Our opinion on the 1964 vintage: a vintage of great quality. 

In Bordeaux, the harvest went well despite heavy rainfall. The ripening of Merlot reached its peak, favoured by a hot summer. In Sauternes, the late-season rains did not allow for the production of great wines. Good weather conditions in Burgundy allowed for grape ripening. The red wines are excellent, full-bodied and fragrant. In the Rhône Valley, the 1964 vintage is of very good quality but with low yields. The wines are superb, generous and of an incredible fullness. Finally, regarding Champagnes, this 1964 vintage is also excellent.

The Rhône wines are clearly superior in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and in Hermitage they have great aging potential.
