The 1965 vintage is generally considered a challenging year in France. Unfavourable weather conditions dominated much of the growing season, resulting in complicated harvests and wines that, overall, lacked the depth, concentration, and ageing potential found in great vintages. In Bordeaux, 1965 was unfortunately not a memorable year for wine. It was a globally difficult year due to temperature fluctuations and rainy weather. No great wines are remembered from this vintage. However, the grand crus classés from 1965 remain great collectible wines, such as the Château Latour 1965. The vineyards of Burgundy also had to face these weather conditions and floods. Fortunately, the fine weather in October allowed the grapes to reach maturity. The few successes in red wines are rare, but deserve full attention.
