Generally speaking, the 2022 vintage was marked by summer drought and climate challenges, but these did not prevent most French regions from achieving respectable volumes after particularly lean years.

The 2022 Bordeaux wine is a great success with red wines reaching remarkable quality levels. The sweet wines, although somewhat more varied, are sometimes superb.

The 2022 Burgundy red wines, from north to south, are generally very successful showing deep color, dense flesh and intensely fruity aromatic profiles.

Regarding Rhône wines, it's not surprising that the whites, such as in Condrieu, are endowed with fleshy bodies and lack some acidity but have charming aromatics with spicy notes. The 2022 Rhône red wines generally present a concentrated profile without falling into the excessive ripeness observed in previous solar vintages like 2003.

The Alsace wines show delightful richness which will allow them to be enjoyed rather quickly. The Gewurztraminer and Muscat varieties display certain aromatic power, offering often broad wines, while the Rieslings have managed to maintain lovely freshness and therefore interesting balance. For red wines, the Pinot Noirs have reached excellent maturity, often offering juices with great fruity intensity and ripe, structured tannins.
