Appellation Nuits Saint Georges

The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation is an AOC created in 1936 which produces Burgundy wines.

Nuits-Saint-Georges produces red wines made from Pinot Noir and white wines (quite rare) made from Chardonay. The vineyard covers more than 305 hectares. This appellation has 41 climats classified as Burgundy Premier Cru, the most famous of which are: Les Saint-Georges, Les Vaucrains, Les Cailles, Les Champs-Perdrix. The vineyard, located on the south-facing slopes, is cut into two parts, by the Meuzin valley and forms two terroirs which give wines overwhelmingly red, with very distinct characters but which have a structured structure in common. The soils of the vineyards are composed of gravel silt and marl-limestone soils.

Nuits-Saint-Georges wines have good aging potential: 5 to 15 for red wines and only 2 to 5 years for white wines.
