Nuits Saint Georges Appellation
Nuits-Saint-Georges is an emblematic appellation of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, renowned for its great red wines made from Pinot Noir. Established in 1936, the AOC covers more than 300 hectares and includes 41 Premiers Crus, including the celebrated Les Saint-Georges, Les Vaucrains and Les Cailles. Its marl-limestone and stony soils give rise to structured, deep and elegant wines, marked by aromas of dark fruits, spices and a fine capacity for ageing. The finest Nuits-Saint-Georges wines can be kept for 15 to 20 years and beyond. Reference estates such as Henri Gouges, Robert Chevillon and Faiveley contribute to the reputation of this great Burgundy appellation.
