La Tâche appellation

La Tâche is a French Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) that produces Burgundy grand crus. La Tâche also has a European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) label.

Its name comes from an old Burgundian expression "faire une tâche" which meant cultivating a vineyard in exchange for a fixed payment. A monopoly of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti since 1993, the vineyard area is only 6 hectares. The grape variety produced there is Pinot Noir. The grape harvest, vinification, production and aging of the wines are carried out in the commune of Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the Burgundy region. La Tâche grand crus are flamboyant and elegant. Wines with aromas of licorice and spices, humus and mushrooms. These are great wines that charm from their youth and improve with age. La Tâche appellation wines have excellent aging potential: 10 to 20 years on average and over 50 years for the greatest vintages.

The best vintages of the La Tâche appellation are 1937, 1971, the 1990 wines, the 1996 vintage, the 2002 and 2009 vintages. The years 1928, 1929, the 1945 vintage, 1971, 1978 and 2005 are the best vintages of the millennium.
