Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2003 La Tache reveals aromas of milk chocolate, violets, roses, and dark cherries. Suave, displaying massive amplitude and a full-bodied, velvety-textured character, this behemoth's flavour profile brings to mind chocolate-covered black cherries. Immensely powerful and noble, it offers an interminable finish that is packed with flawlessly ripe, sweet tannin. Projected maturity: 2013-2030.

Falstaff January - 2016

Very dark robe, violet reflections, subtle rim lightening. Fantastic aroma, captivating bouquet of dark cherries and candied violets, underlaid with forest berry preserve. On the palate very powerful, hints of nougat and cassis, nuances of ripe cherries, firm, well-integrated tannins, convincing length, great future potential.

Tasted blind, this ripe, opulent La Tache is a powerful wine that tastes even younger than its 11 years. Blackberry and roasted herb notes on the palate with plush, rich tannins that are sumptuous and fine. This is not in character with La Tache because it is riper and more bolder than usual but wonderful nonetheless.

Gorgeous. The perfume was immediately and intensely redolent of violets – the wine lit up the room. On the palate were notes of fresh red cherry – not dried cherry nor black cherry. Superb balance and no suggestion that this was a heatwave vintage. Already chock full of charm but with the structure to live on for many a glorious year.

Domaine Romanée Conti
Domaine Romanée Conti

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is one of the most emblematic wine estates in Burgundy and an absolute reference amongst the great wines of the world. Its history is intimately linked to the greatest climats of Vosne-Romanée, of which it is the exclusive or quasi-exclusive custodian. The estate notably cultivates exceptional grands crus, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échézeaux, Échézeaux, as well as the celebrated Montrachet for white wines.

The Romanée-Conti, a climat classified as Grand Cru, forms the historical and symbolic heart of the estate. Owned by the domaine since the 18th century, this monopole vineyard embodies an exacting vision of wine, founded on precision, faithfulness to the terroir and extremely rigorous viticulture. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is renowned for its constant pursuit of balance and purity of expression, favouring very low yields and meticulous vineyard work.

Emblematic vintages such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1942, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1964, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1985, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1986, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1990, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2006, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2011, illustrate the estate's ability to produce wines of remarkable depth, capable of spanning decades whilst maintaining an exceptional legibility of their origin. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti thus remains an essential reference for understanding the excellence and singularity of the great wines of Burgundy.
