Chambolle-Musigny has been an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) since 1936. Located 6 kilometres north of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Chambolle-Musigny appellation is a village appellation and produces 24 Burgundy premiers crus.
The vineyard extends over nearly 150 hectares, of which 56 hectares are dedicated to Burgundy premiers crus. The vineyard soils are composed of limestone and gravel. The grape variety grown there is Pinot Noir.
Full of finesse, silkiness and elegance, Chambolle-Musigny wines are highly appreciated.
Chambolle-Musigny wines have a lower ageing potential than other Burgundy wines appellations. It is estimated that a bottle needs 3 to 15 years of cellaring, or slightly more for the greatest vintages.
