The wine merchant house itself was founded by Joseph Drouhin, a young man from Chablis, in 1880. It was his son Maurice who provided the house with its own wine estate. The Joseph Drouhin estate is a wine estate in Burgundy. The headquarters of Maison Joseph Drouhin is located in Beaune, but the family estate extends across many appellations in the Burgundy region. Among the greatest appellations, the House operates mythical plots, such as Clos des Mouches, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot or Corton-Charlemagne.

The estate's vineyard extends over more than 73 hectares of vines, including 43 hectares dedicated to white wines. Since 1997, the Joseph Drouhin estate has been practicing organic and biodynamic farming.
