Our opinion on the 1974 vintage: a mixed year in the vineyards. In Bordeaux, it was a particularly difficult year for winemakers, who suffered catastrophic weather conditions. As a result, there was an abundant harvest, but the grapes were waterlogged. However, the Graves, Pauillac and Pomerol appellations offer some great wines. In Burgundy, harvests took place during cold and wet weather. Consequently, the quality of this vintage became mediocre, and some Châteaux did not bottle their wine. This year, red wines are generally of better quality than white wines.

Contrasting wines in the Rhône Valley with disappointing grape quality. In the north, it's not considered a great vintage, but in the southern Rhône, it's slightly better: producers carried out strict sorting to produce rather satisfactory wines.

In Champagne, late March frosts damaged the harvest, but Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs still give satisfaction.
