Château Calon Segur

Château Calon-Ségur is a 94 hectare wine estate located in Saint-Estèphe on the left bank of the Gironde. Third classified grand cru (official classification of Medoc wines in 1855) of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, this great wine is often recognizable by its label. The Château Calon-Ségur vineyard grows on gravelly and hilly terrain. The vineyard of the estate is made up of 65% cabernet-sauvignon, 20% merlot, 15% cabernet franc with vines of 40 years of average age.

Calon-Ségur wine is generally considered to be one of the most powerful and full-bodied Saint-Estèphe wines in the appellation. The estate also produces a second wine ‘Marquis de Calon Segur‘ and a third wine ‘Saint Estèphe de Calon Ségur‘. For a wine tasting we suggest the Château Calon-Ségur 1982 and the 1988 vintage. Then, we suggest the Château Calon-Ségur 1995 as well as the 1996 and the 2000 vintage. Finally, the Calon-Ségur 2003, and 2005 vintages are excellent.
