expert's opinions

Information on the vintage 1985 red Bordeaux: 5/5 This vintage...seems to encapsulate all that is good about Bordeaux : its weight, its balance, its character. It is certainly my favourite vintage of this splendid decade typifying claret at its best. I am more than ever convinced that this is one of the most perfect vintages, both for drinking now and keeping.

Château Sociando Mallet
Château Sociando-Mallet Cru Bourgeois, a wine from Haut-Médoc in Gironde. Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine prized by fine wine enthusiasts, as evidenced by its annual success in en primeur sales. Jean Gautreau's wine is one of the great overlooked wines from the 1855 classification. Because it is not officially part of the nobility of Médoc classified growths - even though it rivals more than a few - Château Sociando-Mallet must remain modest in terms of pricing. It thus offers one of the best value-for-money ratios among all great Bordeaux wines!
