Château Pavie is one of the greatest growths of the Saint-Émilion appellation, elevated to the top of the appellation’s classification among the Premiers Grands Crus Classés A. Covering 37 contiguous hectares to the south-east of the village, it occupies an entire slope — an asteriated limestone plateau, clay-limestone hillside and sandy-clay foothills — where Merlot predominates, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Taken over by the Perse family in 1998, the estate produces a deep, powerful wine built for long ageing.

Its vintages span two eras: the great classics from before the takeover, such as the 1990, sit alongside the highlights of the Perse era — the 2000 vintage, the 2009 wine and the 2020 —, while the second wine, Arômes de Pavie, offers an initial introduction to the house style.
