Jean-Marc Quarin April - 1997
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red. Good intensity. Lively. Clean. Discreet. Likewise. Not yet refined. Soft attack. Structure with a fairly fine touch, evolving fruity and flavourful, on a medium body, towards an enveloping finish, more in aromas than in substance. Medium persistence.

Falstaff October - 2012
Falstaff
Strong ruby garnet, delicately ochre-tinged, broader watery rim. Fine dark berry fruit, minty-ethereal nuances, a hint of cassis, attractive bouquet. Fresh on the palate, appears light-footed, already very accessible, red berry nuances on the finish, an uncomplicated food companion, equipped with some length.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The dark ruby-coloured 1996 Pavie exhibits a pinched, tart personality with moderate quantities of redcurrant fruit in the nose, along with earth and spice. Although it exhibits good, clean winemaking, this understated, lean, angular wine does not possess much stuffing, flesh, or length. It should keep for 10-15 years.

Château Pavie
Château Pavie

Château Pavie is one of the greatest growths of the Saint-Émilion appellation, elevated to the top of the appellation’s classification among the Premiers Grands Crus Classés A. Covering 37 contiguous hectares to the south-east of the village, it occupies an entire slope — an asteriated limestone plateau, clay-limestone hillside and sandy-clay foothills — where Merlot predominates, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Taken over by the Perse family in 1998, the estate produces a deep, powerful wine built for long ageing.

Its vintages span two eras: the great classics from before the takeover, such as the 1990, sit alongside the highlights of the Perse era — the 2000 vintage, the 2009 wine and the 2020 —, while the second wine, Arômes de Pavie, offers an initial introduction to the house style.
