Dark colour. Fruity and fresh nose as is often the case with this cru. Juicy, flavoursome, suave and very pleasant palate with melted tannins.

Aromas of currant and leaves. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a caressing finish. Ends chewy.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
A more classic year after the heat of 2003, and even on the colour we are back to a cooler red, edge of mint leaf, jasmine, camomile, black tea, cassis, a little less intensity through the mid palate with an attractive reserve and balance, and touch of bite to the tannins.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Crisp red, sweet and tart fruits, firm tannins and an austere personality with a cassis and cranberry finish that reminds me of what some tasters would call classic.

Quite dark crimson. Lightly scented. A very good effort for this difficult vintage but with rather drying tannins. Hard work! This wine demands time.

Château Sociando Mallet
Château Sociando-Mallet Cru Bourgeois, a wine from Haut-Médoc in Gironde. Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine prized by fine wine enthusiasts, as evidenced by its annual success in en primeur sales. Jean Gautreau's wine is one of the great overlooked wines from the 1855 classification. Because it is not officially part of the nobility of Médoc classified growths - even though it rivals more than a few - Château Sociando-Mallet must remain modest in terms of pricing. It thus offers one of the best value-for-money ratios among all great Bordeaux wines!
