Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Simply put, this is a future legendary vintage for Latour. This is thrilling to taste from start to finish. With incredible levels of concentration, the wine manages to keep everything in perfect balance, tannins, freshness, ripeness, weight, density and richness. The nose captures the essence of Pauillac, while the fullness in the mouth, with perfectly ripe, firm, but refined tannins give the wine shape, length propels the finish past the 60-second mark.

The fruit here is still very much in the primary phase, with a decidedly racy feel to the raspberry coulis, cassis and blackberry reduction notes that are streaked with violet, iron and graphite flavours. The superlong finish alternates between a tug of sweet earth and a velvety feel, as the fruit and grip are still melding together, but there's so much vivacity here, there's no concern with waiting it out. The wait may be a while though. Rather stunning that this can separate itself so clearly from the rest of 2000's high-class field.

Falstaff November - 2010

Dark ruby garnet colour with violet reflections. Very fine bouquet, floral nuances, pleasant notes of red fruits. Full-bodied, very powerful, perfect tannins, delicate notes of fine chocolate, berry jam, wonderfully sweet extract, a wine with enormous potential, everything is really in its place here, has convincing length, an enormous future, a work of art.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The extremely rich, black-purple colour to the rim is followed by a wine with some subtle smoke, loads of minerals, a hint of vanilla, and plenty of crème de cassis as well as roasted meat and a slight scorched earth character. Broad, savoury, and rich, the wine seems to be about 5 years away from full maturity and should drink well for at least 40-50 more years.

This is such an expressive wine, whose elegance is a major factor in its character. It is certainly imposing, rich, and dense. But it is much more complex. You can peel back layers of fruit and tannins, without ever reaching the end of its complexity. At each stage of its life, it will reveal new character, but for now, it is dominated by powerful tannins and intense black fruit.

La Revue du Vin de France
Guide Vert 2017 The wine is reaching an interesting peak. Its notes are becoming more complex on the nose and palate, moving towards aromas of cigar, dried fruits, and fur. The finish is not yet fully in place.

A stunning wine. Fragrant nose of cedar and black cherry. Sandalwood. Magnificent maturity. More exotic than Lafite. Similar to Pichon-Lalande. Spicy. Lots of glycerine. Liquorice-infused fruit. Develops kirsch notes in the glass. Very opulent, seductive 2000. Better than Lafite and Mouton.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is a Bordeaux wine estate producing wines under the Pauillac appellation. First Growth in the Official Bordeaux Wine Classification created in 1855. It is undeniably a reference in the Médoc.

Created around 1680, the Château Latour vineyard is one of the oldest in the Médoc. At the heart of the estate, the main plot, called "l'Enclos", consists of 47 hectares of old vines that are preciously maintained, as they are the only ones capable of giving birth to the "Grand Vin". The 18 hectares of external plots, vine stocks less than 10 years old and potentially declassified wines produce the estate's second wine, "Les Forts de Latour". Château Latour wine is an example of consistency regardless of the vintage quality. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth...

Latour is the very example of excellence, in both good and bad years. Among the greatest vintages, the château's finest achievements: 1920, 1929, 1949, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1982, 1990, 2000.
