Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Simply put, this is a future legendary vintage for Latour. This is thrilling to taste from start to finish. With incredible levels of concentration, the wine manages to keep everything in perfect balance, tannins, freshness, ripeness, weight, density and richness. The nose captures the essence of Pauillac, while the fullness in the mouth, with perfectly ripe, firm, but refined tannins give the wine shape, length propels the finish past the 60-second mark.

The fruit here is still very much in the primary phase, with a decidedly racy feel to the raspberry coulis, cassis and blackberry reduction notes that are streaked with violet, iron and graphite flavors. The superlong finish alternates between a tug of sweet earth and a velvety feel, as the fruit and grip are still melding together, but there's so much vivacity here, there's no concern with waiting it out. The wait may be a while though. Rather stunning that this can separate itself so clearly from the rest of 2000's high-class field.

Falstaff November - 2010

Dark ruby-garnet color with purple highlights. Very fine bouquet, floral nuances, pleasant notes of red fruits. Full-bodied, very powerful, perfect tannins, delicate notes of fine chocolate, berry jam, wonderfully sweet extract, a wine with enormous potential, everything here is truly in its place, has convincing length, an enormous future, a work of art.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The extremely rich, blackpurple color to the rim is followed by a wine with some subtle smoke, loads of minerals, a hint of vanilla, and plenty of creme de cassis as well as roasted meat and a slight scorched earth character. Broad, savory, and rich, the wine seems to be about 5 years away from full maturity and should drink well for at least 40-50 more years.

This is such an expressive wine, whose elegance is a major factor in its character. It is certainly imposing, rich, and dense. But it is much more complex. You can peel back layers of fruit and tannins, without ever reaching the end of its complexity. At each stage of its life, it will reveal new character, but for now, it is dominated by powerful tannins and intense black fruit.

La Revue du Vin de France January - 2017
La Revue du Vin de France
Guide vert 2017 The wine reaches an interesting peak. Its notes become more complex on the nose and palate, leaning toward aromas of cigar, dried fruit, and fur. The finish is not yet fully developed.

A stunning wine. Fragrant nose of cedar and black cherry. Sandalwood. Magnificent maturity. More exotic than Lafite. Similar to Pichon-Lalande. Spicy. Lots of glycerin. Licorice-infused fruit. Develops kirsch notes in the glass. Very opulent, seductive 2000. Better than Lafite and Mouton.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is ranked Premier Cru Classé in the Official Classification created in 1855.

There are 2 other Châteaux in the Pauillac appellation which also benefit from the prestigious title of 1er Cru Classé: Lafite Rothschild and Mouton Rothschild.

Created around 1680, Château Latour's vineyard is one of the oldest in the Médoc. At the heart of the estate, the main parcel, called "l'Enclos", is made up of 47 hectares of old vines that are preciously maintained, because only they are able to give birth to the "Grand Vin". The 18 hectares of exterior plots, the vines less than 10 years old and the possibly downgraded cuvées produce the second wine of the estate, "Les Forts de Latour". The wine of Château Latour is an example of regularity regardless of the quality of the vintage. Firm, tannic and concentrated in its youth ...

Latour is the epitome of excellence in good years and bad ones. Among the greatest vintages, the most beautiful achievements of the chateau: 1920, 1929, 1949, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1982, 1990, 2000.
