Jancis Robinson February - 2011

Dark crimson with a little age at the rim. Beefy, bloody notes on the nose. Quite open. Already quite soft and round on the front palate with fine tannins only on the very end. You could drink this now with food but there is still lots of life in it. More substantial than the 1996 Forts. Vigorous and powerful.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The Les Forts '95 has a much more sumptuous, almost decadent bouquet compared to the Carraudes and Pavillon '95 with red-berried fruit, blueberry and violets. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced, fresh and lively and very pure with notes of wild strawberry, redcurrant and cranberry. Not a complex Les Forts and certainly fleshier compared to recent vintages with a sappy, just slightly attenuated finish.

Deep purple/ruby colour. Rounded strawberry tinged nose. Still quite tight. Good grip with earthy tones. Dark herbs. More dense than the 94.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is one of the most iconic estates of the Pauillac appellation and a founding reference in the history of Bordeaux viticulture. Its name appears as early as the 14th century, linked to the presence of a watchtower on the Gironde estuary, whose proximity still profoundly shapes the identity of the vineyard. As early as the 18th century, the wines of Château Latour were recognised for their consistency and their capacity for ageing, establishing themselves among the greatest wines of the Médoc.

Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the official 1855 classification, Château Latour holds a central place at the very top of the Bordeaux hierarchy. The estate is built on a particularly homogeneous terroir of deep gravels, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which lends the wines a powerful structure, remarkable depth and a great consistency of expression.

The signature of Château Latour is defined by a dense tannic architecture and an exacting construction, favouring precision and longevity over immediate seduction. The estate has withdrawn from en primeur sales: it keeps its bottles at the property and releases them only at maturity. This patience is evident in its legendary years — from the 1945 vintage to the wine of 1961, from 1982 to 1990 through to 2009 — all of which illustrate the estate's ability to express with consistency the excellence of the Pauillac terroir and the singularity of its style.
