The star of the show is the 2012 Hermitage Les Bessards. Coming from the pure granite soils of the Les Bessards lieu-dit, on the western edge of the appellation, it's made from 100% Syrah and spent 16 months in 70% new French oak. It's an incredible wine that offers classic powdered rock-like minerality, loads of crème de cassis and black raspberry fruit, smoked meats, spice and dried-flower nuances. Complex, pure and perfumed, it's full-bodied and seamless on the palate, with fabulous density, ultra-fine tannin structure and impeccable overall balance. Give it 3-4 years in the cellar and drink it over the following two decades.

Intense carmine garnet, violet reflections, broad ochre rim. Finely spiced, mineral underpinned by cassis fruits, rose petals, blackcurrants and smoky rock nuances. Multi-layered, richly sweet, ripe, preserved cherries, present, supporting, but fine tannins, forest berry preserve, salty nuances on the finish, very good length, already accessible, a wonderful food companion, with a delicate nougat aftertaste. The Maison Delas et frères was founded in 1835 in Tournon-sur-Rhône. Managed by the Delas family until 1977, the estate was bought by the family-owned company Champagnes Deutz.

It is therefore Fabrice who is at the helm of Deutz/Delas today.

The Domaine Delas Frères cultivates several plots in different appellations. The estate now covers 32 hectares: 10 hectares in Hermitage, 17 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage and 2 hectares in Saint-Joseph. The Domaine owns vines that are about 40 years old and harvests by hand.
