Dark plumgarnetruby, with more colour saturation than the 1989 or 1990, this wine has notes of new saddle leather intermixed with smoked beef, tapenade, vanilla, and an almost chocolatey mocha character. Some moderate tannins still need to be integrated, but this medium-bodied wine has excellent grip, depth, and overall character. As it has aged, it seems to have developed more personality, depth, and style than the more highly renowned 1989.

Château Talbot

Château Talbot is one of the most emblematic growths of the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate benefits from strong historical renown, associated with an accessible, consistent and profoundly Médoc style. Its name, inherited from English Constable John Talbot, a prominent figure in the Hundred Years' War, testifies to the vineyard's antiquity and its roots in Bordeaux history.

The Château Talbot vineyard now extends over approximately 110 hectares, making it one of the largest classified growths in Saint-Julien. The deep gravel soils, resting on clay-sandy subsoils, offer ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety in the blend, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot. This parcel diversity allows the production of balanced, precise and consistent wines.

The style of Château Talbot is distinguished by its clarity, harmonious structure and distinct aromatic expression, combining black fruits, notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and sweet spices. Renowned for their relative accessibility in their youth whilst offering solid ageing potential, the estate's wines stand the test of time with elegance. Vintages such as Château Talbot 1982, Château Talbot 1996, Château Talbot 2000, Château Talbot 1986 illustrate the qualitative consistency and reliability of this great Saint-Julien wine.
