Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Crayon and pencil lead on the opening beats, with grilled spice and black fruit. Savoury, cool vintage character, with balanced St Julien personality. Cabernet dominant, this shows real consistency with the En Primeur tasting, and is well worth looking out for.

Deep, mineral, delicate aroma, cassis fruit, subtle toasted notes. On the palate firm, powerful, well-structured, high-quality tannins envelop the fruit like a silk cloth. Long, finely spiced, fresh finish.

Purple-red and profound, what a delicate bouquet — the cassis fruit is subtly intertwined with fine toasted notes, a lovely minerality resonates throughout. On the palate firm, powerful, well-structured, the tannins are high-quality, enveloping the fruit like a silk cloth. Long, finely spiced finish, very, very fresh. Accomplished and with potential.

Dark in colour, the wine kicks off with tobacco leaf, underbrush, herbs, olives, flowers and currants. On the palate the wine is soft, forward, fresh and fruity, with polished tannins, elegant textures and a round, sweet, red currant and black cherry finish. There is a nice spicy, fresh kick in the endnote of the classically-styled, bright, understated wine. Give it a few years to compose itself and it will show quite nicely.

Falstaff March - 2024
Falstaff
Deep ruby-red with violet reflections and a subtle ochre rim. Delicate nougat, fine cherries, a hint of plums and oranges, an inviting bouquet. Medium-bodied, chocolatey note, round, juicy tannins, fine minerality on the finish, already very well developed, a versatile food companion.

Château Gruaud Larose

Château Gruaud Larose is one of the major historic estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. Founded in the 18th century, the château quickly established itself as a Médoc reference, driven by an ambitious quality vision and a reputation that has extended far beyond the borders of Bordeaux.

Planted on deep gravel terroirs resting on clay-limestone subsoils, the vineyard benefits from an ideal environment for the expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety in the blend, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This combination gives the wines of Gruaud Larose a pronounced structure, marked aromatic depth and remarkable ageing capacity.

The château is also distinguished by its philosophy summarised in the estate's historic motto: "The King of Wines, the Wine of Kings". Over several decades, significant investments have been made in both vineyard and cellar, with particular attention paid to sustainability, biodiversity and precision in winemaking.

Emblematic vintages such as Château Gruaud Larose 1928, Château Gruaud Larose 1945, Château Gruaud Larose 1982, Château Gruaud Larose 1986, Château Gruaud Larose 1990, Château Gruaud Larose 1991, Château Gruaud Larose 2000, Château Gruaud Larose 2005, Château Gruaud Larose 2009 perfectly illustrate the estate's style: powerful, refined wines, both full-bodied and elegant, now highly sought after in the collectible wine market.
