Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1928 Gruaud-Larose is an amazingly intact wine as it approaches 70 years of age. It exhibits a huge, earthy, sweet, truffle, cedar, and spicy-scented nose, huge body, noticeably high tannin, and stunning concentration. A slight austerity creeps in at the finish. The dark garnet color with only light amber is remarkable given the wine's age.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
I suppose this is what to expect from the 1986, when it hits 90 years of age. The sensuous, full bodied, silky, patina of age is all over the cassis, tobacco, spice and earthy charms. The nose, with its cigar store essence and the finish that tasted as good as it felt was a real turn on. Why can't they make wines like this at Gruaud Larose any more?

Medium garnet edge, with a ruby center. Tight, very concentrated cedary nose, with cassis and tar emerging. Big, chewy, ripe blackberry flavor. Lovely.

Fading, but I doubt I will be in as good a shape as this is if I even get close to 100 years of age. On the tertiary side with a focus on its tobacco, burnt wood, cedar, graphite, floral, herb, and red currant characteristics. Medium-bodied, and bricky in color, the light palate served up elegant red fruits, spice, and earthy notes. This is bottled history in your glass. What a treat and thrill to taste.

Marked acidity but fully evolved fruit too. Correct and true – classic claret that has lasted brilliantly. In great shape. Miraculous in some ways.
