Still quite powerful. Brownish color and strong taste of leather and tart fruits

Jancis Robinson June - 2014
Jancis Robinson
Pale, light, yet fresh and lively. Very clean and lively, but perhaps a little too light to accompany a substantial wine. Warm and complex nose, but dry on the finish. Classy. Delicate. Classic.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Somewhat understated in personality, the 1981 Branaire is quite successful, but forward, precociously supple, and fruity. The bouquet is already showing expansive, complex, chocolatey, cedary components.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth growth (1855 Official Bordeaux Wine Classification) from the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares. Château Branaire-Ducru is now one of the jewels of Saint Julien. It is highly sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with vibrant aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before developing complexity on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and spring flowers... The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, 1982 grand cru wines, 1989, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines from 2000, 2001, 2003 vintage and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the grand crus from 2009, 2010 vintage and the 2015 vintage are great years.
