La Revue du Vin de France November - 2010
La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine Floral nuances, a hint of sweet animal character, then a very beautiful smokiness and the scent of cold fireplaces. The fruitiness is also there; with aeration, it envelops a soft texture. A delicate, accomplished Syrah.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
On its way out, as the fruit is fading, still, there was more than enough cherries, smoke, earth, and crushed rock in the nose to make the perfume stand out. On the palate, the wine no longer offers its kick of acidity, it is soft, round, and polished with a red plum, cocoa, dried thyme, and cherry griotte finish.

Wine Spectator May - 1994
Wine Spectator
A muscular wine that still achieves great elegance, with restrained ripe plum, tobacco and tar flavors. The tannins are huge, but the wine is balanced.

Jancis Robinson
Bright ruby with a pale rim. Lots of acidity and rather obvious sweetness. A bit chewy on the end but not very graceful.

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier

Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, the house of M. Chapoutier is today the leading owner of the Hermitage hill. Since 1990, Michel Chapoutier has cultivated the vines using biodynamic methods and bottles separately the great named sites of the hillside — Le Pavillon, L'Ermite, Le Méal — as single-parcel selections of syrah and marsanne. Since 1996, each label bears the name of the wine in Braille, as a tribute to Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne.

Among the house's great vintages, the 1989 vintage and the 1990 rank among the pinnacles of Hermitage, while the 2003, the 2009 and the 2021 vintage continue this pursuit of excellence across more recent years. These are wines of very long ageing potential, to be decanted and served with roasted meat or game.
