CHAPOUTIER L'Ermite Blanc 2007

"Appearance: brilliant and limpid straw yellow. Nose: complex aromas of vanilla, almonds, dried fruits and linden-tree. The minerality is marked (typical of the soil). Palate: very round and rich wine. An elegant balance, with a light bitterness at the end. Very ripe white fruit aromas (peach and apricot). Beautiful length in mouth and a huge complexity. According to the vintage, the wine can be kept from 30 to 60 years, indeed from 50 to 75 years." - M. Chapoutier

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Another candidate for perfection is the 2007 Ermitage l'Ermite blanc. A nectar of rocks, honeysuckle, quince, pears, and white peaches, this super-expressive, full-bodied, thick, glycerin-endowed wine is another example of a massive white Hermitage that can not be found anywhere else in the world. It should last for 35-50 years.

Jancis Robinson December - 2008
Jancis Robinson
Very deep gold. More lifted than Le Méal. Broad and sumptuous – a feast of nuance but not at all sweet. Very terroir driven and mineral – in the way that, say, Heymann Löwenstein's Lower Mosel wines are but, perhaps counter-intuitively, much more delicate and better balanced. More tension than Le Méal, which tastes very slightly flabby after this.

This has layers of creamy fig, pear, peach and apple fruit flavours, laced with grilled hazelnut and sweetened butter notes that glide through the very long, very precise finish. Beautifully rendered for the vintage.

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier
Since 1808, the Chapoutier name has existed in the Rhône Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to start buying vineyards, thus moving from the status of a winemaker on an estate to that of a winegrower, wine producer and merchant. The pioneering spirit was already inscribed in the family. Since 1990, Michel, in his forties, has been at the head of an exceptional vineyard. A land rich in its history and traditions. Passionate about the expression of terroir, Michel gives his convictions the means to flourish. Groundbreaking choices, to successfully synthesize the past with his own audacity. History of time. As it goes for each element of nature. Time and earth. The roots, the vine and the fruit. From there was born all the richness and generosity of the House of M. Chapoutier.
