Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Nearly scary in its intensity and over-the-top liqueur of stones and minerals is the 2003 Ermitage l'Ermite blanc. I'll keep my tasting notes brief as there are less than 60 cases of this extraordinary wine. It represents the essence of marmalade, citrus oil, white flowers, and minerals. This great dry white wine is undoubtedly 2-3 times more concentrated than the greatest Montrachets I have ever tasted.

This rushes at you, with pear tartine, coconut, sweet butter, mango and honey notes. Just as you think you've got it figured out, it zooms on by with another wave of mineral, hazelnut and fresh apricot flavours. The texture is like porcelain, and the finish is long, to put it mildly. Forget the college fund; treat yourself. Drink now through 2030.

Oxidised orange hue. Nose smells like Sauternes, orange rind, beeswax. Pnp, got better over the 1.5 hours I enjoyed my glass, though this bottle not in the best condition.

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier
Since 1808, the Chapoutier name has existed in the Rhône Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to start buying vineyards, thus moving from the status of a winemaker on an estate to that of a winegrower, wine producer and merchant. The pioneering spirit was already inscribed in the family. Since 1990, Michel, in his forties, has been at the head of an exceptional vineyard. A land rich in its history and traditions. Passionate about the expression of terroir, Michel gives his convictions the means to flourish. Groundbreaking choices, to successfully synthesize the past with his own audacity. History of time. As it goes for each element of nature. Time and earth. The roots, the vine and the fruit. From there was born all the richness and generosity of the House of M. Chapoutier.
