Dark red. Bordeaux. Black highlights. Net. Moderate to good. End. Fruity. Keys rum, wood, spice, cassis. Net. Intense. End. Very fruity. The wine is growing, fruit and with great respect of the pulp. However firm and tannic but still constantly fat, it is very tasty, tender and rather more pulp for a Sheep. Here, no harsh tannins in the final. Nice length tasty based on a body.

(6-2004).
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, the opaque purple-colored, chunky 2001 Mouton-Rothschild does not possess the finesse and stature often achieved by this first-growth. It offers a tell-tale cassis-scented nose, and a monolithic, medium to full-bodied style with relatively high, austere tannin in the finish (a characteristics I also noticed in cask). A dry, angular, backward effort for the vintage, it should be forgotten for at least a decade. Let’s hope the fruit continues to expand and sweeten, but that’s no sure thing.

Very smoky, with berry, coffee and tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with polished velvety tannins, plenty of fruit and a cedary aftertaste. Tight and compacted. This is better than the 2000 Mouton. It's a baby 1986 Mouton. Solid and very, very fine. Persists for a long time on the palate.

(11-2010) Very attractive bouquet and rich, deep flavours - drier than usual. Really resonant. Impressive! Quite a bit of acidity.

Mouton Rothschild

Purchased in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, Brane Mouton became a legend under the name of Mouton-Rothschild. With the advent of Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau Mouton Rothschild became the truly monumental 1er Cru it is today. In addition to the construction of cellars and buildings, and the ascension to 1er Cru status, it is the passion of a lifetime manifested in action by this remarkable man. Ranked Second Cru in 1855, it is now, since 1973, a premier cru classe. His motto became "First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change." The elegance and magic of this wine has charmed the most important contemporary artists who each year, illustrate their an original work of art on the label of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Chateau D'Armailhac and Chateau Clerc Milon followed suit in the quality of the Rothschild family.
