Wine 1992 1er Cru Classé  Bordeaux Pauillac

The production of the Château Mouton Rothschild label was entrusted to the Danish artist Per Kirkeby. This artist from Copenhagen has sublimated this 1992 vintage with a gouache painting. Kirkeby has traced the contours of a giant glass from which overflows the dark red of the wine. Around this glass, the rays of the sun and the undulation of the vines intersect and merge, in a symphony of lines and colors.
Château Mouton Rothschild 1992 reveals touches of caramel, tobacco and fruit. This Premier Cru Classé is made from 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.

Dark red colour. Medium intensity. Evolved on the rim. Nose of medium intensity. Smoky and toasty with a vegetal touch. On swirling, a bit heavy. Would benefit from decanting. Meaty. Soft attack developing on a caressing and rounded structure that surprises with its density for the year. The wine is mainly in the mid-palate. Afterwards, the structure falls apart and the taste does not come through, which is very typical of the year. Pronounced toasty flavour on the finish, slightly charred.

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic wine estates in the world. Located in the Pauillac appellation, it is the only growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux classification to have been elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973, having initially been classified as a Second Growth.

Acquired in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate then known as Brane-Mouton became Château Mouton Rothschild and entered into legend under the guidance of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A visionary, he profoundly modernised the vineyard, developed the cellars and imposed absolute quality standards, making Mouton one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. His motto illustrates this unique ascent: "First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change".

The distinctiveness of Mouton Rothschild is also expressed through its artistic labels, illustrated each year by great contemporary artists, reinforcing its cultural and heritage aura. This pursuit of excellence is also reflected in the other properties of the Rothschild family, notably Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac.
