Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
If there was a trophy for future legend, this would be a contender for first prize. Everything here was simply perfect! Rich and concentrated beyond belief, texturally, this is pure sex and sensuality. Opulent, rich, velvety, long and deep, even now, it is simply incredible to drink.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Just as good, but made in a completely different style, the 2009 Côte Rôtie la Mouline (which incorporates a whopping 11% of Viognier) offers an insane bouquet of roasted meats, toast, spice, caramelised meats, coffee bean and deep, concentrated and layered blackberry and cassis-styled fruit. As with the 2010, it has off-the-chart richness, a stacked mid-palate and a gorgeous polish to its tannin. Give it another 3 to 4 years and drink it over the following 2-3 decades.

Dense and grippy now, with roasted alder, bittersweet ganache and freshly roasted espresso notes leading the way, though there's a very dense core of crushed plum, black currant and blackberry fruit in reserve. A gorgeous charcoal stitching takes over on the finish. Offers loads of muscle, but also terrific cut and drive through the finish.

Andreas Larsson - Tasted
Intense young palate, new oak on the nose, spices, smoke, blackberries, and a clear presence of minerality, the palate has a very high concentration, with layers of chocolate coated black fruit and fine spices, very intense and lingering finish, long and promising, still youthful and restrained though, drink from 2015.

Jancis Robinson June - 2024

Served blind alongside a Rostaing Côte Blonde. Very sweet and rich (from a ripe year). Opulence leading the way to a dry, Syrah-ish long finish with more structure than the Rostaing. Rather glorious.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal has established itself as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family estate has built its reputation on an exacting interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the domaine embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognised on an international scale.

Historically established in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and ages in its cellars the entire range of great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. This same site also ensures the ageing of emblematic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, guaranteeing perfect control of the ageing process and a coherent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most emblematic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal distinguishes itself through wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Vintages that have become references, such as Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1985, Guigal La Landonne 1990, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Hermitage Ex-Voto 2003, Guigal La Mouline 1999, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010, Guigal La Mouline 2018 testify to the quality consistency and exceptional ageing potential of the estate.
