Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2017 Cote Rotie La Mouline has developed quickly and is already approachable—although I wouldn't be surprised to see it close down shortly, only to emerge even better a decade from now. Complex, charming scents of jasmine, sandalwood, raspberries and stone fruit appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky-textured, with a long, plush finish.

Guide Vert 2022 The great refinement of this cuvée is legendary and 2017 is no exception. Patience will clearly be required, but there is no doubt that within around a decade the wine will have come together and this silky texture will delight patient enthusiasts.

Wine Spectator October - 2021
Wine Spectator
Racy-edged and still a bit coiled up, this has a core of dark cherry and currant fruit that has melded nicely with singed alder, tobacco and sanguine notes. Flashes of chocolate and espresso crema add a more taciturn edge to the finish, but time should bring that into the fold, as this has superior length and drive for cellaring. Best from 2024 through 2038.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal stands as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family house built its reputation on a demanding interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the estate embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognised on an international scale.

Historically based in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and matures in its cellars all the great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. The same site also oversees the ageing of the iconic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, ensuring perfect control of the ageing process and a consistent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most iconic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal is distinguished by wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Dominant Syrah, a touch of Viognier on the Côte Blonde, patient ageing: the style combines depth and freshness and rewards patience. The estate's greatest vintages range from the 1988 wine to the 1999 vintage, taking in the Ex-Voto from 2003, through to the more recent 2016, 2017 wine and 2018.
