Bordeaux red colour. Purple. Medium intensity. Lively. Nose of medium intensity. Fresh. Finely oaked. On swirling fresh. Elegant. Fruity and vanilla. Soft attack developing on a round-shaped structure, of medium body, fresh, fruity. Good supple tannic evolution and gently oaked but not very deep. Finish with fresh and clean flavour with a powerful touch. Medium length. Beautiful wine. Well made for the year. Much regularity and always very clean flavours in this growth.

Pale to mid ruby – doesn't even look as though it's trying! Lightly, pleasantly scented. Lively and fresh though very light and nervy. A simple wine but by no means a failure. Slightly dry tannins on the finish.

Château Sociando-Mallet Cru Bourgeois, a wine from Haut-Médoc in Gironde. Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine prized by fine wine enthusiasts, as evidenced by its annual success in en primeur sales. Jean Gautreau's wine is one of the great overlooked wines from the 1855 classification. Because it is not officially part of the nobility of Médoc classified growths - even though it rivals more than a few - Château Sociando-Mallet must remain modest in terms of pricing. It thus offers one of the best value-for-money ratios among all great Bordeaux wines!
