Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
I am not sure what the exact blend is for the 2012 Pape Clément, but it has a light gold colour and is a gorgeously full-bodied, multi-dimensional wine with great texture in its notes of rose petal, honeysuckle, crystallised/caramelised tropical fruits, mandarin orange and honeyed lemon. Aged 15 months in mostly new French oak, this is another brilliant achievement for proprietor Bernard Magrez from this tiny white wine vineyard, although I would rate it slightly below his perfect 2009. Anticipated maturity: now-2030.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Blending 55% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Gris and perhaps a dash of Muscadelle worked perfectly. That is if you like the idea of sweet honeydew, grapefruit, orange and lemon zest, lift and vibrancy in your wine. I know I do and I really liked it!

Fresh wood dominates this powerful, rich wine. It's developing its fruitiness well, bringing out tropical flavours. A ripe full-blooded, no-holds-barred density suggests a fine future. Drink from 2018.

Falstaff March - 2015
Falstaff
Bright green, silver reflections. Delicately caramelised grapefruit note, subtle nougat, underlaid with white tropical fruit, a hint of banana and meadow herbs. Juicy, elegant, good complexity, present new wood, nutty aftertaste, a substantial food companion.

Château Pape Clement

Château Pape Clément is one of the major historic estates of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Its history begins at the end of the 13th century, when Bertrand de Goth, future Pope Clement V, bequeathed his vineyard to the Archbishopric of Bordeaux. This direct link to the papacy confers upon the estate a unique patrimonial depth, making Château Pape Clément one of the oldest growths in Bordeaux still in operation.

Classified as Grand Cru Classé de Graves in the official 1953 classification (revised in 1959), Château Pape Clément has established itself as an essential reference among the great wines of Pessac-Léognan, both in red and white. The vineyard, located at the gates of Bordeaux, rests on deep gravel soils mixed with clay and sand, fostering a refined and complex expression of Bordeaux grape varieties.

The grape variety is predominantly based on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, whilst the whites rely on Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The wines of Château Pape Clément are distinguished by their aromatic intensity, their silky texture and their balance between power and elegance.

Renowned for their great ageing potential, the estate's wines traverse the decades with ease. Iconic vintages such as Pape Clément 2005, Pape Clément 2001, Pape Clément 1998, Pape Clément 2000, Pape Clément blanc 2012, Pape Clément 2010 or Pape Clément 2003 illustrate the qualitative consistency and the singular position of Château Pape Clément among the great collectible wines of Bordeaux.
