Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
One of the stars of the vintage, the 1992 Cos d'Estournel exhibits a deep ruby-purple colour, medium to full body, scents of smoky oak, and copious amounts of blackcurrant fruit. Velvety-textured and medium to full-bodied, this is an atypically ripe, concentrated, impressively-endowed wine

Château Cos D'Estournel
Château Cos D'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it owes its unique identity to its location on the hill of Cos and to the bold vision of its founder, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, a prominent figure of the 19th century nicknamed the "Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe".

From its beginnings, Cos d'Estournel established itself through a rare international ambition for the time, exporting its wines as far as Asia. This openness to the world is still reflected today in the château's unique architecture, inspired by the Far East, a true visual signature in the Médoc. The vineyard is based on a terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, benefiting from the proximity of the Gironde estuary, giving the wines structure, depth and complexity.

Emblematic vintages: Cos d'Estournel 1947, Cos d'Estournel 1952, Cos d'Estournel 1953, Cos d'Estournel 1961 or Cos d'Estournel 1996, Cos d'Estournel 2002, Cos d'Estournel 2005, Cos d'Estournel 2010
