La Revue du Vin de France January - 2009
La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine Still very young, Sociando shows austerity in the finish. However, its concentration and length are very promising. Give it the necessary time for the wine to digest its ageing and find its balance.

Wine Enthusiast January - 2009
Wine Enthusiast
With a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has both structured and superbly rich fruit. The tannins are firm, but show a sweet, enticing edge to them, giving a full body and classic, fresh blackcurrant acidity. An impressive wine, which definitely needs to age—five years or more.

Tom Cannavan January - 2007

Quite subdued and shy, but harmonious, with a compact, composed character. A little more creamy oak, and a lovely sweetness to the fruit. Concentrated and quite tight, with real grip to the tannins, but the tannins are fine and polished. The richness and sweetness of the fruit really builds through the finish, and a broad, plummy richness. With good acid structure behind this, a very promising wine

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Medium bodied, with a rustic, stern, masculine leaning to the tannins, the wine is still young. Showing tobacco, cedar chest and blackberry notes on the nose, with a crisp, chewy, blackberry, earth, pepper and cassis thread in the finish, give this at least 5 more years, or longer to come around.

Falstaff May - 2007

Strong ruby garnet, violet rim lightening. Smoky on the nose, fresh dark berries, some sloes, mineral nuances, chocolate. Juicy on the palate, fresh red berry and lemony nuances, firm tannins, morello cherries on the finish, seems a little loose-knit, somewhat drying finish.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2006 Château Sociando Mallet displayed a lifted and sprightly bouquet with black fruit, scorched earth, fresh mint and smoky aromas - quasi-Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity, fresh in the mouth with a saline tincture towards the composed finish. There is impressive freshness here, not overly complex for sure, but it conveys energy.

Jancis Robinson November - 2018

Magnum. Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Sumptuously ripe nose with a bit of maturity. But a little dilute on the mid palate. Soft chalky tannins. Dusty finish. Ends pretty dry. Very flattering attack. But the finish is still a bit punishing.

Autre October - 2009

Gismondi on Wine : Dill, black olive, peppery, tobacco leaf, cassis, bell pepper aromas. Dry, lean, thin, hard palate. Very weedy, herbal, dill, green olive, tobacco leaf, green cassis flavours. Tannic finish that is thin and coarse. Not much here. This wine has been getting free pass for some time but at $69 the wood is overwhelming the fruit and it simply lacks charm. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).

Château Sociando Mallet
Château Sociando-Mallet Cru Bourgeois, a wine from Haut-Médoc in Gironde. Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine prized by fine wine enthusiasts, as evidenced by its annual success in en primeur sales. Jean Gautreau's wine is one of the great overlooked wines from the 1855 classification. Because it is not officially part of the nobility of Médoc classified growths - even though it rivals more than a few - Château Sociando-Mallet must remain modest in terms of pricing. It thus offers one of the best value-for-money ratios among all great Bordeaux wines!
