DOMAINE MARCEL DEISS Grasberg 2021

To drink between 2030 and 2060 - Semi-dry: exotic, rich and luminous.
A rare and complex Alsace wine. From the summit of Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim (340m), it roots in the poor limestones of the Grande Oolithe. This unique terroir gives this white wine exceptional tension, length and minerality. An emblematic cuvée to discover.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
From a late-ripening, slightly north-facing plateau on Jurassic limestone at 340 metres above sea level, the lemon-coloured 2021 Grasberg "The hill where grass grows" opens with fine saline terroir notes and a fine blend of stone fruits, lychees, chamomile and brioche. Elegant, slightly sweet (thanks to 38 grams per litre of residual sugar) but very mineral as well, this is a rich and fruit-intense, saline and slightly bitter white with fine tannins and a long, tart and promising finish with grapefruit bitters. This is fascinatingly complex, and it will be especially so in 10 years.

James Suckling May - 2025
James Suckling
Aromas of floral honey and some caramelized pineapple. Concentrated, luscious and incredibly fresh. Great citric tension that makes this taste much lighter than it really is and gives it astonishing drive in the finish, where a touch of creme brulee character doesn't make this taste sweet. From this producer's highest altitude vineyard that lies above the Grand Cru Altenberg. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
