DOMAINE MARCEL DEISS 2015

To drink between 2022 and 2040
A great gastronomic white wine, dry, which strikes with its sphericity and very rich body. Its power is intense, carried by extreme complexity. The palate offers a smooth and patinated roundness, enveloping a central note, vibrant with lemon zest.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Reflecting the warm and dry vintage as well as the very hot vineyard, the 2015 Grand Cru Mambourg offers a clear, deep and aromatic bouquet with concentrated lemon aromas along with smoky flavours of crushed stones. Pure, fresh, super lush and ripe on the palate but still precise, finessed and elegant, this is a rich, intense and very aromatic Mambourg with a remarkably fine structure and huge ageing potential. This is a fascinating assemblage of power and purity, of ripeness and mineral finesse, concentration and transparency, structure and elegance. The 2015 is simply flowing over the palate and leaves nothing but salty minerals and the association of perfectly ripe fruits on your mind. Although it drinks very well already today (for fruit wine lovers), this Mambourg will gain complexity over the years if not decades. A great Mambourg that is not yet in the market.

Smoke and golden sultana notions make for an unusual but inviting nose on this wine. These aromas are joined by resinous, honeyed richness that also informs the concentrated palate. There is something ethereal about the flavours, with their beeswax and citrus-rind lift that is anchored in textured richness. Powerful and incisive, the wine has a balm-like feel. Despite its dryness, it has an edge of caramel and a finish of dried lemon zest. Monumental.

James Suckling May - 2018

This is a unique wine where opposites meet! On the nose, it is deep and complex thanks to the many delicate spicy notes. But the caramelised ripe-pear character makes it immediately attractive. It is almost savagely dry on the palate, accentuating the wine's massive minerality and fundamental acidity. The finish is enormously fresh but dark and dangerous. Drink or hold. A complex field blend made from organically grown grapes.

Marcel Deiss

Domaine Marcel Deiss is one of the most emblematic and distinctive estates in Alsace viticulture, renowned for its deeply terroir-focused vision and unique interpretation of great Alsatian wines. Located in Bergheim, in the heart of the Haut-Rhin, the estate has established itself over several decades as an essential reference for understanding the expression of Alsatian soils at the highest level.

The vineyard extends over approximately 32 hectares, a large part of which is classified as Alsace Grand Cru, with emblematic plots such as Altenberg de Bergheim, Schoenenbourg, Engelgarten and Mambourg. Unlike the traditional approach centred on grape variety, Marcel Deiss favours a plot-based and geological reading of wine, placing terroir above all else.

The estate is managed using organic and biodynamic farming methods, a long-standing commitment aimed at preserving the natural balance of soils and vine vitality. The plantings are often carried out in complantation, combining several grape varieties on the same plot in order to more faithfully translate the identity of the place.

The wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss are distinguished by their depth, complexity and great ageing potential. Outstanding vintages such as Domaine Marcel Deiss 2006, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2020, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2008, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2015, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2022 illustrate the consistency and qualitative ambition of the estate, which has become an absolute reference for lovers of great Alsace wines.
