To drink between 2028 and 2050
Elegance and lightness at their peak. This wine offers a vibrant and smooth palate, a tangy richness where flavours unite in perfect alchemy. It is the very essence of its terroir – clay, limestone and pink sandstone – captured by the winemaker, blending fruit and depth of the vintage.

James Suckling July - 2022

Breathtaking nose of the ripest apricots the world has ever seen! Also some mango, candied orange and acacia honey. Very succulent, but equally vinous, the interplay of these two aspects creating an incredible mouth-feel. And below this, currently below the waterline, is tremendous minerality that gives this breathtaking tension, which drives the super-long finish. A field blend of traditional varieties, focused on riesling. From organically grown grapes with Ecocert certification. Drink or hold.

Green Guide 2022: Majestic Altenberg, caressing and honest, whose mellow and tender palate overflows with savoury and endless flavours. Its invigorating freshness makes the question of sugars superfluous.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The golden-coloured 2018 Grand Cru Altenberg offers a deep, intense and mineral as well as aromatic bouquet of stewed peaches and mirabelles. On the palate, this is a very rich but also sweet and tannic Altenberg that reveals fine grapefruit bitters but doesn't sing like the 2019. It is very rich, tight and tannic but less elegant and refined or stimulating.

Marcel Deiss

Domaine Marcel Deiss is one of the most emblematic and distinctive estates in Alsace viticulture, renowned for its deeply terroir-focused vision and unique interpretation of great Alsatian wines. Located in Bergheim, in the heart of the Haut-Rhin, the estate has established itself over several decades as an essential reference for understanding the expression of Alsatian soils at the highest level.

The vineyard extends over approximately 32 hectares, a large part of which is classified as Alsace Grand Cru, with emblematic plots such as Altenberg de Bergheim, Schoenenbourg, Engelgarten and Mambourg. Unlike the traditional approach centred on grape variety, Marcel Deiss favours a plot-based and geological reading of wine, placing terroir above all else.

The estate is managed using organic and biodynamic farming methods, a long-standing commitment aimed at preserving the natural balance of soils and vine vitality. The plantings are often carried out in complantation, combining several grape varieties on the same plot in order to more faithfully translate the identity of the place.

The wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss are distinguished by their depth, complexity and great ageing potential. Outstanding vintages such as Domaine Marcel Deiss 2006, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2020, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2008, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2015, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2022 illustrate the consistency and qualitative ambition of the estate, which has become an absolute reference for lovers of great Alsace wines.
