Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A strong effort for this estate, the 1982 exhibits sweet aromas of plums, licorice, earth, and flowers. The tannins are slightly rustic, but the sweetness of the fruit, the broad expansive mouthfeel, and the wine’s full maturity represent a classic Bordeaux at the top of its game.

My last bottle of this gem. Medium-bodied, elegant and showing its secondary cedar, tobacco leaf, cherry, spice, cranberry and cigar box character with ease. Classic and classy, this is about elegance over power. Popped and poured, this is at or slightly past its peak.

Pale ruby, browning. Animal nose with good perfume of brown-sugar, meat, game and toasty oak. A full, glycerine-rich palate and plenty of spicy red plum fruit, the tannins are soft leaving it rich and full into a moderately long finish. Drinking better than my previous bottle a couple of years back, and really very attractive.

Not decanted. Evolved color. Fruity and fairly discreet nose. Very pleasant on the palate, rounded, juicy, smooth with taste and fine, ripe tannins. Normal body and length. A beautiful unit.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth classified growth (classification of Bordeaux wines in 1855) of the Saint-Julien appellation in Médoc. The vineyard extends over nearly 60 hectares of vines. Château Branaire-Ducru is today one of the jewels of Saint Julien. This Grand Cru Classé is sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with dazzling aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before becoming more complex on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and flowers. of spring… The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, wines of 1982, 1989 vintage wines, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines of 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the great vintages of 2009, 2010 vintage wines and the 2015 vintage are great vintages.
