Gilbert & Gaillard January - 2018
Gilbert & Gaillard
Light yellow. Delicate nose opening up after airing to white fruit tones and pastry notes. Beautifully textured palate with very silky effervescence, all of which shows a tension that adds freshness and length to the wine.

Green guide 2019 Difficult to resist its charm. Refined, held by a nervous backbone, this cuvée extends at length on white fruit flavours.

An elegant Champagne, dry and lacy in texture, with a crisp, delicate range of green pear, kiwi fruit, lemon pith, picked ginger and chalky mineral notes that linger on the clean-cut finish.

Deep straw. Complex nose and quite demanding dry apple-skin character. Certainly ambitious but neophytes should not tackle this.

Philipponnat

Founded in Aÿ as early as 1522 and based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the Philipponnat house crafts vinous and precise Champagnes, dominated by Pinot Noir, from the Champagne appellation and Grand Cru classified terroirs. Its monopole Clos des Goisses, the first clos vinified separately in the region, encapsulates its spirit: terroir, structure and long ageing potential.

True to its perpetual reserve and measured dosage, the house produces gastronomic cuvées that stand the test of time. Among its great years, 1996, the 2002 vintage, the 2008 wine, 2015 and the 2020 wine illustrate the balance between vinosity and freshness.
