In a 1970 claret tasting held several years ago, Haut-Bailly performed well, indicating that this is probably the best vintage for the chateau between 1964 and 1979. It still has that in-your-face, up-front, smoky, sweet, herbaceous fruit, medium body, soft, velvety tannins, and a long, smooth, alcoholic finish.

A lovely mature colour, soft, harmonious bouquet and flavor. Spicy finish. Drinking well.

Château informations
Haut Bailly
Chateau Haut-Bailly, Graves Rouge Pessac-Leognan. Chateau Haut-Bailly Pessac-Leognan Graves Rouge. Graves Cru red. Haut Bailly is one of the few major properties to produce only red. In 1998, the Sanders family sold the vineyard to an American banker, Bob Wilmers, but Veronique Sanders continues to manage. Tannins wise, almost discreet, a delicate balance, "without anything too" as he likes to say, Jean Sanders, define the incomparable style Haut Bailly. Nothing conspicuous in this wine that embodies the finesse of Bordeaux.
