Allen Meadow - Burghound
Bricked through. An expressive nose is comprised by notes of full-on sous-bois along with plenty of spice and sandalwood nuances that exhibit only a background trace of rot-tinged funkiness. The lighter weight flavours are fully mature and interestingly the normally rigid and astringent tannins are largely resolved on the nicely complex and sneaky long finish. This is not technically perfect and it's by no means a great LT but it is a seriously good '74 and particularly so at 45 years of age!

Domaine Romanée Conti
Domaine Romanée Conti

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is one of the most iconic wine estates in Burgundy and an absolute benchmark among the great wines of the world. Its history is intimately bound to the greatest climats of Vosne-Romanée, of which it is the exclusive or near-exclusive custodian. The estate cultivates a number of exceptional grand crus, among them Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échézeaux, Échézeaux, as well as the celebrated Montrachet for its white wines.

La Romanée-Conti, a Grand Cru classified climat, forms the historical and symbolic heart of the estate. In the estate's ownership since the 18th century, this monopole vineyard embodies a demanding vision of wine, founded on precision, faithfulness to the terroir, and an exceptionally rigorous approach to viticulture. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is renowned for its constant pursuit of balance and purity of expression, favouring very low yields and meticulous work in the vineyard.

Iconic vintages such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1942, the 1945 wine, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1986, the 1990 vintage, the year 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005, Romanée-Conti 2011, illustrate the estate's capacity to produce wines of remarkable depth, capable of spanning decades while retaining an exceptional clarity of origin. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti thus remains an essential reference for understanding the excellence and singularity of the great wines of Burgundy.
